Why Black and White?

Why Black and White?

If you’re in the Denver area on Thursday, September 8th, I’d like to invite you to join the SW Photo Club of Denver as I attempt to convert all color photographers to Black and White!

Thursday, September 8th at 6:30 pm.
Abiding Hope Lutheran Church
6337 S. Robb Street
Littleton, CO 80127

In addition to speaking on “Why Black and White” I’ll also be discussing my workflow, my four essential tools, working on “cohesive bodies of work” and my favorite topic: Vision.

I’m looking forward to seeing you!

Any chance this is going to get recorded for all of us who can’t make it? I’d be really excited to hear all of that content!

  • Daniel F Says:

Sounds exciting, wish I could come. Bit of a travel from Sweden though:)

  • Benoit Jansen-Reynaud Says:

I second Dave on the recording, HD if possible…. Sounds really cool Cole, wish I was closer…

I’ll look into it! I do have the PowerPoint presentation and handout, but need to find a way to post it, making it available to everyone. The files are something like 80mb and 11mb, so not sure how to make these accessible.

  • David Says:

Cole, this is awesome! I’m beginning a new job right around then, but going to try my hardest to make it. As for the download, allow me to suggest a fantastic application called Dropbox. It’s one of my favorite apps and it’s free. It should have no problem allowing you to post the zip online for people to download from. If you use this invite link, we both get extra storage space: http://db.tt/AFHD6vL.

Will there be a cost of admission for the workshop?

  • Cole Thompson Says:

David, I am pretty sure that admission is free, it’s just a small group in SW Denver. I hope you can make it!

  • David Kingham Says:

I will plan on attending, thanks Cole!

  • Caryn Hill Says:

I’m looking forward to the workshop!

    Hi Cole,
You can also use http://www.wetransfer.com to send large files to anyone who wants to see the tutorial. That would be fantastic…

  • Joel Tjintjelaar Says:

I wish I could make it Cole. If you do have the presentation and handout or even a videorecording I would gladly post it on my website as an addition to my interview with you.

  • Cole Says:

It looks like we cannot record it, but I will make the PowerPoint presentation and Workflow handout available via DropBox.

    Thanks everyone!

  • Roland Says:

Now that would be very interesting. Thanks, Cole.

    Hi Cole

I would like to come to one of your talks or exhibits I have been shooting back and white film for about 34 years not and I love it. In face what I see a person in would like to shoot, I visualize how the photo wil look in black and white. I bought a digital slr about 8 years ago, and it is convient. But the black and white do not have the same feel as s film image. But, on the otherhand, you digital shots look great.
