Hello Cole! I was delighted to discover your blog yesterday, not merely because there is a plethora of amazing photography here (there is), but because you share your techniques and approach. Thanks for that! I will come back frequently to learn and enjoy.

Hi Cole, I was scrolling through google images and I came across one of your pictures which really interested me so I thought I'd take a look at your blog. On there I noticed 2 pictures in particular, this one and the one entitled The Angel Gabriel. (the story's behind them are amazing aswell)
I'm a musician and I have material I am looking to release very soon but I don't have any artwork and I would be honoured if you would let me use both or either of these pictures.
Thanks

Cole, I think the excitation is one of the indicators of deep contact with something that is beyond the simple application of well known rules/techniques to create something that the broad masses will accept (and buy). It is a sign that something much deeper and touching has emerged. It takes some guts to follow that spark, tho.

cheers

Dear Cole,

Aha! And, may I add, Aha! Thank you very much for all of the above. Priceless knowledge of your process, as far as I'm concerned. 'Harbinger No. 1' is marvelous and so is gaining some insight into how you realised your vision of it.

How good you are to us :)

Hi Cole, Thank you so much for telling the story of this photo. It's always been a favorite of mine. Love it and love your work so much. I could not be a bigger fan. Please let me know if you are coming back to Maui. I want to give you a hyatt employee deal if you want to stay there at all. Please come take pictures with whales in them. The whales need your eye to represent them.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and process.

YES... that pretty much sums it up. But I will add that "Harbinger No. 1" is one of my favorites of all your images... maybe second only to the "Old Truck." And the Harbinger portfolio is really a nice cluster of striking and meaningful images. When I occasionally see a "harbinger" cloud myself, I immediately think of you and your portfolio.

I've got a "thing" for centered images also... just started working on a centered infrared image looking down a well with a ladder and a light at the bottom at an old southern plantation (Westover). It actually was their escape tunnel to a boat on the James River in case of Indian attack. I suspect they were probably attuned for different "harbingers" than clouds.
